The Polynesion Destination of Samoa - Much More Than a Tropical Getaway

As you would imagine with any tropical location, probably the most commonly sought activities are the types done outdoors and invariably on or even in the river. When not in the water we imagine ourselves a minimum of nearby, relaxing by the pool, walking the white sandy beaches, hooking a big marlin in the back of an fishing charter or simply just sipping mai tai's while being entertained by local performers using swaying hips and graceful hands.

Major Polynesian destinations like Hawaii serve tourists looking for a tropical holiday experience while still feeling like they are in the home, busy streets, shopping malls and endless tourism operators all competing for the business. But the tiny island of Samoa down the middle of the Polynesian Triangle offers far more.

Samoa is often a living breathing Polynesian cultural experience in which you don't need to attend a cultural amusement park to see the culture in action. It is happening all over the place over a daily basis.

Being a tourist going to a new destination I will be always excited to discover unique reasons for a place, a nearby customs and native pass times, along with activities which are set aside from the standard resort holiday experience.

Samoa is known as by those well travelled being one of the last places on earth get ready to experience hawaiian isle Polynesian getaway because of the comforts we westerners expect, but still notice a way of life that remains nearly as in keeping with its customs and lifestyle today as when the Christian missionaries found its way to 1790...they have electricity nowadays too.

There are several places where one can like a wonderful show filled with traditional Samoan dances, music and food. But to view island culture because it lives and breathes you only need drive outside the main town of Apia to find yourself within the heart with the villages where people still are now living in traditional fales (houses), live from the land which is laden with banana and coconut plantations, fish from outrigger canoes, hunt for wild pig and use traditional ceremonies and meetings frequently.

The locals will almost always be pleased to welcome visitors to their midst providing we visitors show the best respect for culture and traditions. Befriending the locals in this way will open the doors available for you to their whole world of humble gratitude for the simple things in life where they're going to invite that you be involved in their customs and share with their food and hospitality.

Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, each one of these destinations are dear to me, but no other island I realize provides the true cultural reality that you can experience with Samoa.
